What You Should Know About ‘Exercise Right Week’

What is Exercise Right? Exercise Right is an Exercise & Sports Science Australia public awareness program (ESSA). If you’re looking for something to motivate you, this is the right place!

The campaign’s goal is to help Australians in becoming more active. Their mission is to help us understand where to get the best guidance for our needs, regardless of age or health status through their annual event called ‘Exercise Right Week.’

In this article, let’s explore what this event is all about!

More About The Event

Exercise Right Week is the annual event of Exercise Right to encourage everyone to get more active. They also aim to share practices as to how we can exercise better!

We’ve got some exciting news! ‘Exercise for the Right Reasons’ is the theme for this year. You might be curious about the theme. The keyword here is “right.”

There are so many conversations in the health and fitness business that make exercise seem like a duty. Sometimes, it even sounds like a punishment.

You might have encountered businesses that promote exercise as a weight-loss technique. Have you talked to anyone who said that exercise is a way to achieve an “ideal” figure?

This can lead to a possibly negative link between our minds and our bodies. That is something Exercise right as a campaign wants to change.

They want to highlight some of the physical, mental, and social health advantages of exercise during Exercise Right Week. This year, Exercise Right Week will be from May 23 through May 29!

Do you feel like life is constantly throwing you curveballs? You’re not alone. It can be incredibly difficult to maintain a positive attitude when things seem to be going wrong all the time. But what if there was a way to rebuild your life, starting with your attitude? Relife Rebuild You Life may be just what you need.

Activities You Can Do

You can attend a range of free online and in-person events during Exercise Right Week. If you join, you can meet new people with the same goals. You can also learn more about staying active safely by attending free exercise classes or education sessions.

Here are some activities you can join:

  • education sessions
  • walks
  • exercise classes
  • fun runs
  • clinic open days
  • dance workshops
  • reformer pilates
  • strength class
  • stretching classes
  • balance and stability classes
  • other online events.

To reinforce the positive messaging of this event, we spoke with local Sydney Chiropractor Dr. Paula Basilio from My Back Relief Clinic.

Dr. Basilio (Chiropractor) has seen first-hand the effects of people moving less and not being active. Recently, Dr. Basilio has seen an increased influx of back and neck pain patients who have been working from home for an extended period of time.

“As a chiropractor, I have seen an overwhelming trend of people coming into my clinic after spending months working from home,” said Dr. Basilio.

“My speculation is that they are moving from their ergonomically well set up workstations in their office to working from home on their kitchen table.”

Dr. Basilio believes that there are many things people working from home can do to stay active and reduce back pain.

The main action is to get up and move at least every hour. Simple habits such as getting up to grab a glass of water every hour can mitigate the cumulative pressure your spine experiences from sedentary life.

Health And Wellness Classes

A special feature of the program this year is the inclusion of the health and wellness classes. There will be a session on chronic pain and how to manage it.
